USA 2003 holiday

The pictures on this page are mainly of the Grand Canyon. They do not however come close to capturing the sheer grandeur of the place, nor do they convey the unimaginable amount of time which it has taken for it to form.

"The Hoover Dam viewing the lake which has built up behind the dam."

"This is the opposite view down the gorge where once the Colorado thundered."

"The sun sets on the Grand Canyon. This is looking towards the East rim"

"The helicopter on which we would soon taken off to fly across the canyon."

"A view from the air. The bottom is about 1 mile down"

"Just to proove we were actually in the helicopter."

"Another view from the air showing some of the many layers from which the original rock is formed."

"The Little Colorado. It's colour comes from various salts dissolved in it."

"This type of rock formation was all over the place. You felt that they would fall down at any time, so thin were they when looked at side on."

"Back on terra firma, this is the view from one of the many view points along the south rim."

"Another sunset, bringing out some of the colour of the rock."

"Just another magnificent view."

"Another view of this awe inspiring place."

"A friendly coyote poses for a picture by the side of the road."
