So what do you want to know about? I suppose a good place to start is with me.
Well what can I tell you. I am well over 50, am married with three children (26, 24 and 20). I live in Linlithgow which is near Edinburgh, in Scotland. I am an Inspector of Taxes and have worked for the Inland Revenue for over 30 years. My wife is a teacher, my oldest son is training to be a nurse, the middle one is a postman, is married with one son, and the youngest is a student at Ayr University.
From elsewhere on this site you will have noted that my main hobbies are playing games of one sort or another. I don't get out much. And really that's about it.
It all started when Demandred (aka Skorponok) was looking for someone who had a credit card in order to pay for some web space. He and some other students studying Computer stuff at Edinburgh University clubbed together to come up with the fee. I decided to help the poor chaps by contributing myself thus splitting the cost a bit more. In return they granted me some space and I went to work filling it. The original Zacchaeus files were nothing short of crap. Well actually it was very good on my machine, it was when it was uploaded that the problems started. No-one had told me that the file names needed to follow a certain convention and so every link was broken. I never did get around to fixing it.
Another problem was that I didn't really have anything to put up on it that was worthwhile. I did it mainly for the challenge of learning a bit about HTML, Java and general web site creation. At any rate I now possess a digital camera so I can now at least post some pictures of various things and invite people to view them on this site.
All the coding was done by hand except one or two bits, mainly the Java applets. I used EditPlus 2 for the HTML, Paint Shop Pro for fiddling about with the photos and Osbornes "The Complete Reference" as my HTML reference book and Joe Burns' HTML Goodies for easy reading on the same subject. Visit the links page for more information on these and other things. Planning took about a couple of days, taking the photos of the miniatures, preparing them and the others took another couple, coding took about 4 days and testing another.
I have run out of things to write!
As you might have gathered by now this site has nothing to do with religion whatsoever, despite what it says on the link (assuming you got here via incompetence-central). I am asked a lot about the name Zacchaeus and why I use it. For those well versed in the New Testament the name Zacchaeus will be familiar as the Tax Collector (Publican) who climbed a sycamore tree in Jericho because he was a bit short of stature and wanted to see Jesus over the top of the crowd. He was a dishonest fellow who took a bit more than he should have from those he collected tax from. Thus he was enormously wealthy and very much disliked. After meeting Jesus (who spotted Zacchaeus up the tree and then invited himself to Zacchaeus' house) he became a changed man and gave away lots of his wealth as well as returning what he had erroneously collected. Anyway I work for the Inland Revenue (boo hiss) although I am not a collector and bear no similarity with Zacchaeus at all (unless he had a beard of course, which given that he was a Jew living 2000 years ago he probably did have). However I needed a Nick (name) for mIRC and this one seemed appropriate. So there. (This expanded explanation specifically for the benefit of Electric_Monk.)
Thanks to Skorponok for the many hours of fun playing table top wargames and for introducing me to aspects of computing of which I would have remained unaware. Thanks also to my D&D gaming group and the chaps on mIRC for their endless amusements and (generally) helpful advice and comments. Oh, yes and my wife for putting up with me hogging the computer for days on end whilst this was all being created.
